Someone ask me if the QMErrorLog under v6 was an option of Solaris. I don't see it noted that it's not. And that all UNIX, iSeries, Windows servers support it.

Anyone input?

In the qm.ini file you can set the QMErrorLog stanza to suppress or elimate specific messages from the error log. My question is is alaviable of Solaris. The Doc all all distributed system (UNIX, iSeries and Intel).

AH.

If the doc says it's supported on all Unixes, then it should work equally well on all Unixes.

Solaris is a Unix platform.

Seeing as it is documented now:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.mq.amqzag.doc/qmcf.htm

Then it would seem to be a fully-supported feature. BUT this is a Unix-only thingie as the equivalent setting for Windows would be in a registry setting somewhere, which DOESN'T seem to be documented.

No, in Windows it's set in the MQExplorer.

And maybe with amqmdain.

(my emphasis)

Ah, maybe that's why, although the docs say the following:

WebSphere MQ > System Administration Guide > Recovery and problem determination > Problem determination > Error logs wrote:
The capacity can be altered in the Extended queue manager properties page from the WebSphere® MQ Explorer, or in the QMErrorLog stanza in the qm.ini file.

I can't actually see anything that looks like this parameter on the "Extended" page of the QM properties dialogue. (We are Solaris.)

(How would the WebSphere® MQ Explorer update the qm.inifile anyway?)

That was ages ago, and an entirely separate MQExplorer than the one you know, and it only worked for local queue managers, not queue managers that are connected to via MQ Clients.

The emphasis is on *local* queue managers, because as you know, MQ Explorer can't alter the contents of files on remote file systems, and the MQ PCF APIs don't expose the contents of the qm.ini for a given qmgr.

Eclipse is a lovely platform for doing all kinds of things, and there are surely tools that can be found that will allow editing this file in an Eclipse environment.

MS0P may provide some assistance as well.

I may well be missing something here but qm.ini is a text file.
It can be edited with an editor of your choice.
Do you really need a GUI ?

I believe the allusion was to doing it remotely through MQExplorer or similar...
