We just recently upgrade to WMQI v2.1 and now on some of our ESQL, where we once had IF ... IS NOT NULL, it no longer functions the same way. We have verified that the elements are indeed null elements or <ELEMENT/>. If we change to IF ... = ' ' (a single space) now it works as expected again.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it modified functionality in the new version?

This also seems to be the case when dealing with MRMs

Setting a MRM (sub-) element to NULL fills it with spaces instead of removing it.

How can pre- 2.1 effect be obtained ?

I've had this type of problems since using the product, I've even had discrepancies between CSD revisions, where code once worked and then didn't. Don't be surprised at this type of change and make sure that you regression test all code after upgrading or even applying a revision. Oh, and when you mention it to IBM they will tell you that it is a "side effect" of their uprade/bug fix!
