I'm looking for a method to save the original message for later use within a complex message flow. The message flow is progressive and needs to combine data from multiple sequential transactions. I'm using a custom plugin node to execute the "transactions" against a proprietary system. I loose the original message when the plugin is used.

I could store the original message somewhere in the message sent to the plugin and have it return that along with the data it's supposed to retrieve but that a lot of overhead.

I've attempted to utilize the "Environment Tree", but the plugin doesn't acknowledge this. It seems to only work with "InputRoot".

There's a "postit" plugin on the ibm download page that stores individual items in memory but I don't think it works with tree structures (not sure yet).

I'm going to run into the same issue when incorporating aggregation components into my flows as well.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You can make use of LocalEnvironmentTree to store your original message instead.

So long as you remain within the same message flow, you should be able to use the LocalEnvironment tree. However, if you need to split your processing between flows, then the Postit node could be used. Yes, it does copy and restore not just simple elements, but entire tree structures.
