Hi,

I am new to MQSeries and I'm wondering if theres an document out there that can take me through easy installation, and basic configuration steps to allow just test messaging so I can learn off of. Either between two UNIX systems or UNIX to Win2000.

My main goals are to install MQSeries on two different machines, and configure them to be able to send a message to either.

I'm finding the IBM documentation too difficult, and I dont see a 'quick start' document anywhere.

Thanks so much.
Rob

Rob,
Suggest the MQSeries quick begginings manual. I suspect that you just need to spend some time. There are a lot of concepts but a little patience, some experiments and use of these forums will yield results.

I would recommend:
1. Install two queue managers
2. Ensure that they are both up and running
3. Define a queue on one
4. Define a sender channel on one and a receiver on the other
5. Define a qremote definition
6. Use amqsput to put a test message

I would be interested in hearing back from yourself and others ... if I can get 3 votes of interest for such a document, I will write a "how-to" to get MQ installed on two machines plus channel plus sample message move.

The easiest way is to create two queue managers on the same machine - define channels between them both. Just remember to use a different port for the listener on the second queue manager. Then play with it until you are comfortable before using seperate platforms. This will bypass the security and communications hassles that you will encounter when you do move to multiple platforms. There is no substitute for experience.

Cheers - Peter.
