I notice that you can't export a message with an rfh2 header and reimport it without physically removing the rfh2 header when it is in the text file.

I know you can backup/restore msgs with rfh2 header but I want to be able to modify messages and re-import message.

Suggestions?

I would love to be able to export a message that has an rfh2 header and have the option on the export to tell it to strip the rfh2 header OR allow me to export the message without stripping the rfh2 header, modify the message and reimport it back in. I suspect this might be difficult since the rfh2 has the length of the message.

Another note on rfh2. If I have an rfh2 header on a message with xml - I would love to be able to use the xml tab to look at my xml portion of the message easily.

Hi,

Instead of exporting, altering & importing an RFH2 message, how about if MQ Visual Edit allowed you to edit the RFH2 message directly?

And yes, putting the XML Viewer on the RFH2 window for the data area is a good idea.

This is for messages which have been backed out to a defined backout queue. We want to be able to (depending on the situation), edit the message and put it back on the input queue. If we are editing in place and there were many messages - it could have the potential of being very confusing and hard to manage.

Hi,

The only problem about putting a RFH2 message to a file is that it will contain binary data - in particular, binary zeroes. Hence, most editor will wreck the format of the message.

A better approach would be to move the messages to another queue, edit the messages then move them back.

True - we may have to do that for now. But it would be a great change in the future to give the option to strip the rfh2 header and also if in the DLQ, strip that header on export etc.

Thanks

Hi,

Ok, if you want to strip the RFH2 or DLQ headers then yes I see your point. I'll put it on the enhancement list with your other request.

I was going to enhnace the Forward Message function to strip any MQ header, so this request is not to far off.
