Hi All
I have installed MQ series v5.2 and MQSI v2.01 with DB2 v6.1.
I have created the three MQSI databases and they are registered
The Config manager and broker are created and the services are started.
There are local mqbrasgn, mqbrdevt, mqbrkrs, mqbrops, mqbrtpic and mqm groups which have the corresponding domain users as members
I am logged on as administrator (who is a member of the above groups)
Problem:
After I log onto MQSI control centre and I try to add message sets to my workspace I do not see anything in the repository not even the system / std sets. I have run the mqsimrmimpexp utility to import other message sets. This completes fine but I do not see them in the repository.
When I try and click on the Topology tab to create a broker I get an error: BIP0401E You are not authorized to perform this task.
I have created the users and groups on my user manager be identical to a development server which is working well.

regards
Lillian

Try logging in as your ServiceUserID and see if it is working or not.
Is there any error message logged in Event Viewer?

I had the same problem with MQS 5.2, MQSI2.1, DB2 V7.2 on Win2k. I configured the configmanager with the ServiceID mqsi. The user mqsi is member of all groups as named in Lilians post.
The configmanager Service in Win2k was configured to run by mqsi (done by the create script).

I changed the Service userid to administrator (is also member of all groups) and started the GUI as user mqsi. Now it works, but I don't know why.

Thanks for any help,

Rainer

Hi,

DB2 has a restriction on USERID and Password. It expects the userid and password to have a max of 8 characters. So it is always better to have userid and password not more than 8 characters.

Ved

The error logged on the event viewer is as ff:

XXXXXX
( Configuration Manager ) Unknown user encountered within the Configuration Manager.

An unknown user exception was caught by the Configuration Manager RoleManager class when calling the UGRegistry class. The user has not been given access to the resource.

Retry the operation. If the exception still occurs, turn on Configuration Manager tracing to capture details of the exception, and contact your IBM support center.

XXXXX
My db password and userid are less than 8 character long.
logging on as the the serviceuserid (mqadmin) does not help.
error--BIP1354S: An authorization error occurred when the Control Center accessed MQSeries object LMQ1NMQI (Queue manager).

Thanks alot for all input... my problem was resolved by:
- creating the username server (although I disabled the service)
- deletng the configuration manager and broker and recreating using the -d option

regards
Lillian
