Our mainframe uses EBCDIC encoding. EBCDIC isn't an option in the list of charSets.

What charset should I be using to write EBCDIC messages?

(I am new to this mainframe stuff.)

Can you add some more flesh to the question? What platform will your MQ app be running on? Will it be written in Java? What content of messages will be passed? Will the application send messages, receive messages or both? Is MQ already installed on the S/390 platform?

Text messages (MQMD Format = MQFMT_STRING) will be automatically converted from local code page to remote and visa versa.

I am writing the messages in java on NT. It will be string data that is written.

I just added the format command to make it a STRING. I don't know yet if it worked. Because I don't have access to look at the queue, someone else has to do that.

Will post again when I get a response back from the mainframe people with the contents of the message. (dont you love big companies?)

That was exactly the problem, thanks!
