I am trying to determine if I can use Visual Edit to connect to queues that I have defined in WSAD5.1.1.
I have read that the implementation of MQ included is limited and does not allow external connections.
I assume that this means I will not be able to connect but if there is a way I would like to know how.
Any ideas??
You help is appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in MQ Visual Edit.

Yes, MQ Visual Edit can connect to the embedded queue manager in WSAD - the only thing you need is the queue manager name (and it be running).

If you do not know the name of your queue manager then do the following:
Quote:
- Open Command Prompt
- cd {WSAD_MQ_INSTALL_DIR}\bin
- dspmq

dspmq will return the name of your queue manager and status info (i.e. running). Once you have the queue manager name, then in MQ Visual Edit, add a new 'Queue Manager Access Profile'. Note: Do not put any information in the Remote Parameter or Security Exit sections.

Hope that helps.

Roger,
Thanks for you help.
Your instructions worked perfectly!
The way the response from the dspmq command looked was:

QMNAME(WAS_localhost_server1) STATUS(Running)

So in this case the queue manager name is "WAS_localhost_server1".
(The parenthesis threw me for about a half a second.)

That was all I needed.
This makes MQ Visual Edit even more useful.

Thanks again!

I previously used this tip to connect with an older version of MQ Visual Edit, but with the new version (1.3.1) I am having some problems.

I get an error that "the procedure entry point lpiSPISyncPoint could not be located in the dynamic link library AMQZST.dll"
