Suppose I need to preserve my configuration of execution groups across each development level. What is the best way of doing this? If I use the export function then I get loads of other stuff as well including all message flows which make up the current broker deployment even if those message flows do not exist in my current workspace.

I'm not even sure if it makes sense to try and promote execution group configuration as you would need to promote all the associated message flows at the same time.

My problem is that in a development environment there will be hundreds of message flows currently being tested and if I want to do a sign-off to the next level of just a subset of those flows along with execution group information containing those flows, then the export menu function will just create me an XML file containing hundreds of message flows, not just the ones I really want to export.

Any ideas?

Nick,

I am not sure if this will help in your situation, but there is an mqsifiltermsgflows command that let's you specify the message flow.
syntax is:
mqsifiltermsglows exportfilename flowname
I am not sure if you can put more than one flow name.

Also, what version are you currently working in? I had heard, but don't know for sure, that in new versions you get to pick the messageflows you want to export instead of it automatically doing them all. We are currently at 2.0.1 and don't have that functionality.

Regards,
Karen

Nick,

If you are using MQSI V2.0.2 you can export individual message flow from control center itself. If you have lower version, as karen said, you can use mqsifiltermsgflows command to get each individual message flow from the complete export file. If you want to combine them into one file, you can use 'mqsicombinemsgflows' command.

This isn't actually what I meant!

We are using 2.0.2 and you can export individual message flows, however I was referring to definitions of execution groups and not message flows.

When you export the whole workspace, the topolgy will be exported as well. You can than import the topology, but only the topoloy as a whole, not a single execution group.
