We have MQ at 5.2 on z/OS which acts as the full repository for a cluster that has (or rather HAD) only one other QM in the cluster (MQ for NT at 5.2).

We started getting some problems with the cluster channels not starting (manual starts worked fine). It looks like our testing of 5.3 on z/OS may have something to do with it but investigations are pending (going live on 5.3 this weekend). The cluster was defined when the workflow system was first installed and had worked fine until recently.

Now onto the problem. Our NT people decided to try and fix the problems from 'their end' and decided to drop the NT qmgr from the cluster....now we can't get it to join the cluster again. I understand why it isn't working but we need to get the cluster restored. The only plan I can come up with is to save the definitions on NT (saveqmgr style) then delete and recreate the qmgr, and restore the definitions.

Is this the only way I can do this, or id there a quick and dirty way? The z/OS qmgr was set up as the only full repository. (Hopefully I can get that rectified it during the recovery process)

Any thoughts? I am not 100% sure why the consultants that installed workflow set it up this way, but I don't really have that much faith in their knowledge of z/OS or MQ for that matter.

The good news is that this is just development....for now, but the bad news is that Production is being IPL'd at 5.3 on Sunday for a test.
