I am looking at my SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE and seeing messages flow normally. In facty everything seems to be working fine... However, I am seeing a wide disrepency on the value of Open Output Count.

From runmqsc I get:

Code:
     1 : DIS QL(SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE) ALL
AMQ8409: Display Queue details.
   DESCR(MQSeries Cluster Transmission Queue)
   PROCESS( )                              BOQNAME( )
   INITQ( )                                TRIGDATA( )
   CLUSTER( )                              CLUSNL( )
   QUEUE(SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE)    CRDATE(2003-08-14)
   CRTIME(10.01.17)                        ALTDATE(2003-09-14)
   ALTTIME(14.47.08)                       GET(ENABLED)
   PUT(ENABLED)                            DEFPRTY(0)
   DEFPSIST(NO)                            MAXDEPTH(640000)
   MAXMSGL(4194304)                        BOTHRESH(0)
   SHARE                                   DEFSOPT(SHARED)
   HARDENBO                                MSGDLVSQ(PRIORITY)
   RETINTVL(999999999)                     USAGE(XMITQ)
   TRIGGER                                 TRIGTYPE(FIRST)
   TRIGDPTH(1)                             TRIGMPRI(0)
   QDEPTHHI(80)                            QDEPTHLO(20)
   QDPMAXEV(ENABLED)                       QDPHIEV(DISABLED)
   QDPLOEV(DISABLED)                       QSVCINT(999999999)
   QSVCIEV(NONE)                           DISTL(YES)
   DEFTYPE(PREDEFINED)                     TYPE(QLOCAL)
   SCOPE(QMGR)                             DEFBIND(OPEN)
   IPPROCS(5)                              OPPROCS(57)
   CURDEPTH(0)

BUT, looking at the MQExplorer output I show a value of about 30,000 and climbing.

Other than this anomoly - everything is fine...

Did you find out what caused this?

No, I have not found the root cause... and it still happens - I sometimes see a huge count on the OPPROCS when viewed via MQExplorer.

However, in just checking, the numbers seem to be both more reasonable and in sync. Maybe applying CSD05 across all environments did the trick.

I'll keep an eye on it and see if this issue raises itself again, but for the moment all seems well.

Did you try running the qstatus command against the queue to see who actually had it open?

At the time, no.

Back when the problem manifested itself we were only at WMQ 5.2, CSD04 (I think). We only recently (early new year) upgraded to 5.3 [CSD05]. It also hasn't been a high priority issue, so I let it "drop off the radar". I'll try and keep an eye on it more and see if it re-occurs.
