All,

Capitalware Inc. would like to announce the official release of MQ Visual Edit v1.3.0.

This is a FREE upgrade for licensed users of MQ Visual Edit. To download the latest release go to:
http://www.capitalware.biz/mqve_overview.html

New Features for MQ Visual Edit v1.3.0:
    - Added Favorites functionality (like Internet Explorer) and ability to organize user favorites
    - Added support for 3rd party Security Exit
    - Moved the UserID field to the Queue Manager Access Profile window rather than Preferences window
    - Added 'Clear Queue by ID' (MsgID or CorrelID or both)
    - Added IPPROCS and OPPROCS to 'List of Queues' window
    - Made all columns in the 'List of Queues' window sortable.
    - Added code so that the Paste function will use the MQMD from a previous message Copy / Cut action.
    - Added code to automatically get entire message when clicking on XML tab (Message Edit window) if only partial message was originally retrieved.
    - Created a single shell script for all Unixes, Linux, Mac OS X, etc...

Updates for MQ Visual Edit v1.3.0:
    - Fixed a bug in 'List of Queues' window if user double-right clicked without selecting something.
    - Fixed a bug when openning an alias queue that points to a remote queue.
    - Fixed a bug in the CorrelID for the message edit function.
    - Fixed a bug in ClearQByMatchingString when MQMD columns were shown.

For more information or to try out a 30-day trial version of MQ Visual Edit go to:

Hi,

because of the security flaws in the MQSeries client protocol we can't use MQ Visual Edit in our production environment. Is there an upcoming product of you that will support the new security exit feature of MQVE? What's MQAUSXJ?

We would love to see a ready to run security exit for z/OS which supports System Authorization Facility (SAF ) ...

Bye,
Jan

Wow, people actually read documentation!!

You are the 3rd person to ask me about this. This is a new product I have been developing this year. MQAUSX is MQ Authenticate User Security Exit and it provides both client-side and server-side security exits to authenticate a user against the remote server's native OS (or domain for Windows servers).

No, certificates, keys, etc.. to manage. Just a standard challenge / response UserID & Password scenario, the same way you normally log onto any box.

It is in private beta testing at an insurance company right now. I will probably have a semi-public beta testing soon. The beta testing will include Windows, Unixes & Linux.

Yes, it WILL support z/OS server-side security exit (but not for beta testing).

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Yes, but only unwillingly

Great to hear, I hope this will solve all of the security problems we have with MQSeries clients.

Hi Jan,

I'll try to finish testing the exits on AIX & HP-UX this week and maybe start the semi-public beta testing earlier than expected.

I'll post an announcement when it's ready.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Hi,

We are so glad to see this type of user exit being published, as our company is very tight on security.

Wany Java-based tool not carrying out authentication, it leaves your MQ network open to all sorts of un-authorised events.

Few questions....

We would like this exit on unix platforms (intel-linux, Zseries linux, hpux and solaris) and especially on mainframe.

Would this exit only work with capitalware software?
When is it likely that it will officially be released on all platforms?

Many thanks,

Yes, for AIX, Solaris, HP-UX & xLinux. I have had several requests for zLinux. (Which is pretty cool.) So, I have put it on my must build platforms list.

No.
Please read the Overview

I am targeting the initial 5 platforms for a GA release in April 2005.

Feel free to read more or join the beta at:

Hi,

Please have a read of the information in the above links.

But for your information, here are the first 5 targeted platforms:
    -IBM AIX
    - HP-UX
    - Linux x86 (Red Hat)
    - Sun Solaris
    - Windows XP/NT/2000/20003
Although, I have had far more requests for a zLinux version than for a z/OS version. But I will be creating both versions after the GA of the initial product.
