What happens when an error occurs during the compute?

I ran in debug and it looks like a rollback occured after the compute node and the message was finally written to my queue defined for the 'Catch' on the MQInput Node. I expected the 'Failure' node on the Compute to be used but that path was never followed.

Also, at the end of the debug I got the error associated with the compute...

BIP0658E Data type violation detected.
Explanation: One or more field values were changed to incorrect data types.
User Response: The message will be reset and all changes done in the previous step are discarded.

I do not see this or any other error messages in the logs, if was not running Debug how would I determine the reason why my message was not delivered?
