I have a question about When to use MQ client/Server and when to use simple Queue Manager. I am a new to MQSeries. I am in the process of designing the architecture of application using MQSeries. Any suggestion to the design is appreciated.

Thanks

Much of this decision lies in the application requirements. What exactly are you going to try to do with MQSeries? Are we talking about web-based clients talking to a backend ERP, pub/sub, request/reply, fire and forget, transactions, etc., ad inifitum ???

Hi Brandon,
Thanks for your response. Actually I am working on a application which takes XML messages as input(from the client) to the MQSeries and pass the message to an XML Adaptor which processes the message and get back the reply from the XML Adaptor and pass it back to the client through MQSeries.
Here the client may be any and it may be Internet Browser or via any application.

Also is there any specific things I have to do while installing. I am going to use AIX.

Thanks

Check out the "Client" manual at http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/library/manualsa/manuals/crosslatest.html

The quick answers to when you would use a client version are (straight from "Clients" manual.:

- no need for full MQ Installation
- to reduce hardware requirements
- to reduce sys admin requirements
- ability to connect to multiple QMGRS
- different transmission protocols can be used.

BTW, you'll probably find that the IBM website is very comprehensive.
