Is WMQI supported on Win2000 workstation? The attached install log looks like it's expecting ADSI, which is only supported on Win2000 server. 2.0.2 installs fine, and we've tried both an upgrade and a clean install, both with the same result.

You are right. It needs ADSI which is supplied on your WMQI CD's.
See Introduction and Planning, system requirements for Windows NT and Windows 2000 components.
The books are on the supplemental CD so you can read them without installing WMQI.

Unfortunately the information and the kit (adclient.exe) is only valid for Windows NT 4.0, sp6a (both workstation and server). A windows 2000 professional workstation in a workgroup (isolated), and not in a domain, does not have any active directories. I understand that is why the install fails as in the log, but it would be nice to have confirmation from an expert on the subject.

WMQI 2.1 does install on Win2000 Professional, as confirmed by many developers. However, there is an unexplained error with the LaunchLAP function which should be corrected in the kit. The reason for the posted error above was incidental, and rare. A manipulation of the installation files had deleted the ./jre/lib/LAP.jar file. This had the unfortunate effect of skipping the license popup screen, and assumed that the user had chosen to decline the license. Replacing the file in the kit corrected the problem.
The correct trace in the current version of the kit follows (we could document that the listed failures should be ignored):
[03-13 09:23:20] <--- Function: CheckSystem()
[03-13 09:23:20] ---> Function: DialogShowSdLicense()
[03-13 09:23:20] --->Show-license dialog

[03-13 09:23:20] Creation of LAP temp directory failed on C:WINNT\WMQI2L~2 failed

[03-13 09:23:26] <--- Function: GetStatus()

[03-13 09:23:26] <--- ShowLicense - License using LAP
[03-13 09:23:26] <--- Function: DialogShowSdLicense()

Thanks for your patience,
Gavon
