As per the documentation we don't need to specify connection name for server channels and receiver channels. If we specify connection name for server channel, MQSeries allows server channel to connect to a requester channel that is defined on a particular machine. It looks like, this gives more security in a distributed environment.

I am looking forward for suggestions on defining/not defining a connection name for a server and receiver channels.

Hi,

'Fraid you can't put a conname on a receiver channel. Putting a connection name on a server channel is a good idea (if it has a fixed end point) as you can also start the channel from the server end if you want.
