Hi,
Our developers are using MQ Server 5.3 and I have been asked to create a highly available solution using 2 servers (using W2K).
I am a complete newbie with MQ Server and I have few basic questions on clustering.
1. Should I use MQ Server "clustering" or Microsoft's MSCS "clustering" (it looks like the word CLUSTER has very different meaning in MQ)?
2. What are the requirements for the solutions (for example, I noticed that there is a SupportPAC (MC74) that can be installed in order to enable Microsoft's Clustering Service). Also can someone give me some good links on the "basics" of MQ?

MSCS. You want failover, therefore you want hardware clustering. Therefore you want MSCS.

You do not need the Support pack with 5.3. MSCS support is already enabled. All of the documentation for setting up MSCS support, including requirements, are already installed on your server. Open up the Help Center.

Install the Information Center on your desktop from the Documentation CD. Start with the Manual called "Windows Quick Beginnings".
Or follow the "Documentation" link at the top of this page to the same "Windows Quick Beginnings" Manual. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
