We're running MQ 5.3 with CSD04 on Windows 2000. Eight boxes in the cluster with 2 full repositories.

We're experiencing the problem of messages piling up on our SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUEs and the automatic cluster sender channels are NOT starting.

I know this bug is documented by IY50188 and is fixed in CSD06. And, I'm working on a timeline to roll that CSD across our 24 boxes (8 machines in each of 3 environments - Test, QA and Prod).

My question is: in the meantime is it safe to set the DISCINT = 0 as a cluster receiver attribute on each queue manager? I realize this will incur some unnecessary resource utilization. But, if I can keep those channels running to prevent application outages until I can apply CSD06, I think that is a reasonable tradeoff.

DISCINT = 0 is not a bad idea. I have set it to that value for the workflow QMGRs' channels.

With AdoptMCA, DISCINT=0 can be a bad idea since the orphaned RCVR instance will never go away.

A better idea is to determine what the longest time period will be between messages (Friday 5 PM till Monday 9 AM, for instance), and then set the DISINCT to solightly larger than that.

Your channels will always stay running, but orphans will clean themselves up.
