-Didn't want to hijack RatherBeGolfings thread-

I have the MO71 support working w/ our distrubuted side MQ. I have tried to connect to our MQ on z/OS LPAR, but it passes my NT network id and I'm not allow access to the z/OS MQ.

Does anyone know a why to pass and alt id w/ MO71??

Thanks//

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you post it on the MQ List Server you'll probably get a reply from the author (Paul Clarke) himself.

Just create NT user name like in z/OS and run MO71 with contact admin.

I did go about creating a network ID the same as my mainframe ID.

The drawback to that was the 25+ qmgrs on the servers started spitting out error messages in the Event Viewer every 3 minutes since my mainframe ID wasn't defined locally on other boxes.

I may see if I can have 2 instances of the MO71 running. One for distributed and one for mainframe.

How I go about getting connected to the MQ List Server????

Thanks

To subscribe to the MQSeries ListServ database/message board, send an email to listserv@akh-wien.ac.at with content of:

subscribe mqseries

If you just want to temporarily suspend mailings (for example, while you
are on vacation), send a note to the listserver with content of:

set mqseries nomail

then, when you want to re-imnstate mailings, send another note with content of:

set mqseries mail

Peter, please correct me if I'm wrong about the subscribe command. I haven't subscribed in 5 years, but I use the mail/nomail options constantly - since you can quickly become overwhelmed with the volume of messages. It is a VERY active Q&A environment. However, the search facilities for old threads is not nearly as nice as mqseries.net.

A way to get arround is using a security exit together with the MCAUSER.

What you do is set the MCAUSER to a good one after the security exit is shure about who you are (auth.) I'm using this approach on some of my QMGRs.... It wrks, but it needs a good security exit.

MO71 supports security exits written in C++, so it's just get in the saddle, and code souch one. (I can't give you mine due to copyrights and that stuff). But you can get inspired from some of my links:
http://home19.inet.tele.dk/m-invent/links.htm

If you can rely on IP-validation, together with userid match you could extend the BlockIP exit. This means that you don't need a security exit on your MO71. But I think you should have a chat with your security auditors on this topic (I hate to say it )

Just my $0.02

Hi,

I'm not sure what you are using MO71 for (configuration vs message editing) but if you are doing message editing, then you could try out MQ Visual Edit. It allows you to set ANY UserID that you want (Edit -> Preferences).

This is NOT the Alt UserID but the main UserID used for MQCONN, MQGET, MQPUT, etc...

You can find MQ Visual Edit at:
http://www.capitalware.biz/products.html

later
Roger...
