Hi,
We want to use F5 before our MQ Servers. We have a lot of MQ Clients for which we are trying to establish Channal Authentication. But whenever we use F5 in front of the servers we are not abşe to connect to the Server itself. How can we configure F5 to pass the connecting client IP to the Mq Server behind it ?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards.

you need to make the connection "sticky". Say you use load balancing: you cannot send one MQI call to qmgrA and the next MQI call to qmgrB.

Once the connection is established, all calls need to go to the same QMGR.

Enjoy

I am not able to answer your question directly since I am not an expert in F5 set-up. I am sure it is possible to tell F5 to pass the client IP through on the connection, and hopefully someone who knows F5 and has read your question fully will be able to provide an answer.

However, I wanted to suggest that you might be better using something other than the IP address to authenticate your MQ Client applications. Anything else in fact would be stronger. Even a simple password authentication would be better. Obviously adding SSL/TLS to your channels would be better still.

Cheers,
Morag
