Dear MQ fellows,

We have a strange situation. Currently one of our production structures is at 83% Stor utilisation and 34.1% Entries used. When I do the following :

dis ql(*) where(cur depth gt 500) cfstruct(........02) maxmsgl
I do not see anything unusual! 2000,3000 messages... from where is this utilisation coming ? The display of the structure shows

STORAGE CONFIGURATION ALLOCATED MAXIMUM %
ACTUAL SIZE: 7889 M 7889 M 100

SPACE USAGE IN-USE TOTAL %
ENTRIES: 1292633 3796810 34
ELEMENTS: 18999633 22778843 83
EMCS: 8299 3026688 0
LOCKS: 1024

Where are those messages ?

EDIT

87% full. Close to a MQ breakdown and I still don't know where the usage is. I am thinking, maybe some batch job is putting uncommitted messages there ???

Typically "ghost" messages are messages that were put under syncpoint, for which the application has exited / crashed without doing a commit or a rollback. If there is no provision for pending UOW's on application restart you might have to do a manual force commit or rollback.

For this forums reference, the situation was that mq labs analyzed the dump and we found a transaction in cics, apparently on a get loop, which I don’t know how is possible - a put loop I can understand, it a get loop filling up the structure list ??? , that survived the initial crash of the structure and kept on running for 24 hours, and we managed(IBM heads) to discover, cancel (well the whole region ) at 98% structure.
Hope it helps.
