Guys, thanks for discussion!

This is use case: I want to manipulate with ldap entries. I use some java code to do this, but I need to propagate bind user and pass to ldap server. I know that user and that pass and I need to store it somewhere on IIB, so that I can read it from JCN or some other node and then to pass to JCN.

As I mention, I'm using user defined configurable service, which is better solution then put password inside code, but still password is stored in plain text.

Esa totally understand me. I'm looking for advice how to solve this problem.

Thanks again!

Okay, this conveys nothing to me. I do not understand what you mean.

But it certainly sounds outside the range of the usual LDAP activities of authenticating, authorizing or propagating that IIB does out of the box.

I'm sure he'll have some suggestions. I can't suggest anything as I don't even understand your problem!

Ok,

I understand that what you want is to store your LDAP user id and password someplace so your JCN can read it and connect to the LDAP database, and that you need to secure that store.

What I don't understand is why you need to do this. And from this, I don't know how to advise you. This is why the software does all of this for you (because this is a thorny problem).

So how would you do this in WAS? Where would you store the credentials there?
