Hello

Our plan is to setup IBM MQ on a Windows 2016 VM on Azure using a MSCS cluster to mimic our On Prem setup (with windows 2012). We ran into an interesting limitation about the sector size on the disks.
The cluster solution provided by Azure uses 4k sector disks and we found that MQ LTS version 9 only supports 512 byte sectors.
IBM recommended us to move to 9.0.4 CD version which include compatibility to 4k sector disks.

We were planning to stick with LTS because we have traditionally stuck to core MQ features but the Azure disk requirements and the incompatibility with LTS versions in forcing us to think of moving to CD.

Wanted to get expert opinion from the field as to whether CD versions 9.0.4/9.0.5 are stable with core MQ functionalities of if there has been instability issues.

Thanks for the help.

The frequency of releases seems to indicate (to me anyway) that the new releases are more about new features and less about scrambling to fix instability issues.

Compare that to something like IBM's API Connect v2018 - they are releasing a new version every week, and obsoleting a version every week!

Compared to that, MQ looks stable as a rock.

Thank you. Are the CD releases commonly used for production workloads?
IBM gave this response through our support portal exchange

I cannot say for sure that we have customers who are using 9.0.4 or 9.0.5 under MSCS, however; our L3 support team added support for use with the Advanced Format Disk at 9.0.4 so I don't see why there would be a problem

Also are installations starting to utilize 4k sector disks?
