We applaud your interest in MQ internals. Most of us are equally curious.

I'd like to suggest that you begin you inquiries by first searching google. Google is your friend, and is available 24 hours per day.

In this example, a search for something like 'mq+inetd vs runmqlsr' would have answered some of your questions. Next visit, you might post what you have learned on your own - to share with others.

Just be aware that things change over time (clearly not as much as I thought!) so judge the value of information in the frame of how old it is.

Also be cautious exploiting this knowledge. Exploiting the internal function of the software not only makes your solution vulnerable to changes between versions, but can affect the running of the queue manager.

This forum is great place where I get feedback from great MQ experts.

I give feedback too

About 3 years ago I had some basic programmer education on z/OS.
The instructor loved to joke about option x.y being added to the menus "relatively recently", hence had not been much adopted by the users yet.
"Relatively recently" meant 1986.
Cue laughter in the classroom.
Why use new features on a system that's "just working".

Some new features seem to take a long time to adopt and work their way into new designs or re-designs, no matter how much value they could add. Eg. MQ internal pub/sub engine introduced in V7.0. We don't have any business apps that use it. Horses for courses I guess.
