Hello Everyone,

We have external party(MQ) which sends messages into our local MQ queue, we are receiving these messages with same message id and correlation id is set to all zero's on all the messages

We asked the sender to stop their channel and capture the message on their transmit queue, on their Xmit queue we found that all messages have unique Msg id and same Correlation id and when they release those messages to us we are receiving them on to our local queue with same Message id(correlation id gets copied to message id) and Correlation id is set to all Zero's

How is this possible, i am sure that our receving qmgr doest do this this as we are receiving them onto a local queue, is the Msg id/correlation Id manipulated on the Xmit queue of the sender?

When you are looking in the Transmission Queue - what MQMD are you looking at? Because there are two. There is the one that is associated with the message as per normal. But each message on the transmission queue also has a MQXQH header on the front of it. This header contains an MQMD. It is this MQMD that will eventually become the MQMD of the message on the remote system so it is this MQMD that you should be comparing.

The MQMD that is associated with message will often look very similar to the MQXQH MQMD but there can be key difference. For example, over a cluster channel the Correlation Id in this MQMD will be the Channel Name and nothing to do with the Correlation Id value used by the application.

Cheers,
Paul.
