even I had some authentication error issue, though the client and MQ manager were on the same linux machine.It worked with the above commands.

No, it was in fact the software firewall that comes with some versions of Linux.

Once that was stopped, things went back to normal.

Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error.

You would do better to recommend THIS rather than suggest opening up queue managers to every man and his dog...
