Migration of IIB( Message Broker) components from AIX p-series to Linux.

Did any one performed this migration -- IBM supported migration approach is install the required version on Linux, create the Execution Groups and deploy the BAR files.

what is the easiest way to migrate?

Can we restore the backup using mqsirestore command ( backup from AIX) on Linux VMs?

Thanks
Kasra

It's not supported. Let us know how that works out for you.

I was able to restore the DEV2 ( which has only 5 EGs ) on sand box -- every things works when tested.

But when tried to restore the DEV ( which has 30 EGs) on another sand box -- MQSIRESTORE command says successful command completion and can see all the UID floders on /var/mqsi/components/<BRK NAME>

mqsilist BRKNAME doesn't show me list of EGs.

Please find the output.

Reissue the command specifying a valid path and file name for the backup file.
SVR:d-sandbk-102:/var/mqm/errors> mqsirestorebroker CARBRKD01 -d /opt/linux_broker/tmp -a 20170531.02051496210401.CARBRKD01.backup.zip
BIP1266I: Deleting the existing configuration of broker 'CARBRKD01' ...
BIP1268I: Restoring broker configuration information from backup archive '/opt/linux_broker/tmp/20170531.02051496210401.CARBRKD01.backup.zip'...
BIP8071I: Successful command completion.

After restoring started the broker and tried to list the EGs -- getting below response.

SVR:d-sandbk-102:/var/mqm/errors> mqsilist CARBRKD01
BIP1282I: No execution groups have been defined on broker 'CARBRKD01'.
BIP8071I: Successful command completion.

No errors in error logs stdout/stderr.

what all the possibilities for mqsilist not to list all the EGs.?

Thanks
KASRA

The restore didn't work properly and it's not correctly rebuilt the broker's registry data.

You can restore a broker on a computer that has an identical configuration by using the backup file that you created. The operating system must be at the same level, and the broker and queue manager names must be identical.

I've done this successfully between different levels of AIX, but not across different OS flavours.
