we have a queue manager which supports 4 applications and all are non persistant messages. we have 20 GB space currently allocated for /var/mqm/logs.

our current queue settings are:

maxdepth = 5000
maxmsgl = 4MB

one of the application want to implement persistance messaging on a particular queue and they expect below throughput.

volume = upto 250k
size of each message = <=1 MB

questions:
1. considering the new request how much more disk space needs to be added?

2. how do we caluculate the storage capacity(formula)?
3. what needs to be changed in qm.ini to make this persistance effective?

thanks

How to calculate log space is documented in the the planning and system administration documentation (manuals) and the knowledge center.

Go to google, and search for 'how to calculate mq log space requirements'

Did you do any research on this before posting here?

yes, from articles it seems the max size is 131 GB.

having a bit confusion on what to consider in calculating the size. is it just number of messages and each one size or its based on longest running transaction time....etc. Saw different approaches in different articles

How did you arrive at that value?
