Our application runs on Websphere application server.
And it communicates with a web service(with http).
Now the websevice has undergone SSL implementation(with https).
And when we try to connect to the web service from our local setup, we get the following exception:

Error 500: Error processing WSDL document: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: com.ibm.jsse2.util.g: PKIX path building failed: java.security.cert.CertPathBuilderException: PKIXCertPathBuilderImpl could not build a valid CertPath.; internal cause is: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: The certificate issued by CN=Wells Fargo Root Certification Authority 01 G2, OU=Wells Fargo Certification Authority, O=Wells Fargo, C=US is not trusted; internal cause is: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Certificate chaining error

What we need to do in our local setup in order for our application to successfully connect to https enabled webservice.

Appreciate any help on this..

Have you thought about asking Wells Fargo to check that their certs are correct?
Certs expire and sometimes mistakes are made when adding new ones.

do you get the same error when accessing the site with tools such as .... well , you know a browser such as Firefox? or SOAP/UI?

Sometimes the problems are not of your making.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

Do you have this certificate in your truststore?:
Code:
CN=Wells Fargo Root Certification Authority 01 G2, OU=Wells Fargo Certification Authority, O=Wells Fargo, C=US

Or the certificate that signed it? (recursive )
Have fun
