We are looking to upgrade to MQS v8, but we use a lot of Perl scripts with the MQ Perl CPAN module "MQSeries". Does anyone know if the current CPAN module, MQSeries-1.34 (Dec 13, 2012) is compatible with MQS v8? I've Googled until I started turning blue (not IBM blue; another shad), but can't seem to find anything about this. Thanks in advance for any information.

Can't you try it?

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

Well, looking at the date on that module and the GA availability date of MQ V8, I'd be very surprised if it did support the full features of V8.

Think about it like trying to connect a V7 client with a V8 server...

It should be compatible.

I expect that the team behind the module simply hasn't had the time since v8's release to complete their upgrade/testing.

It's not a part of their full time job, entirely, to support this. And when all you have is several tens of pages scattered across the InfoCenter/KC to tell you "this is new in v8 for this tiny little piece", and you have to walk all of those pages and then walk through the rest of the pages that describe the technical details of those pages...

and then remember that the v8 KC was not fully updated before v8 was released...

Other than that, yes, it should work just fine against a v8 queue manager. You just won't necessarily have access to v8 client features.

We're just getting started and actually have to upgrade our broker to either IIB 9 or 10, and with that MQS v8. There are other tools we use that also will have to be upgraded. I was hoping to find someone who had already upgraded to MQS v8 with the Perl CPAN module. I'll keep everyone posted as we progress.
