Hi,

AFAIW, IS03 doesn't have the functionality to fetch the Message Flow names from the BAR file, to get them added over GUI.

The question is that, if BAR file is given to the Testing Team and they may want to test the performance of the Designed Message Flows. BUT they cannot do that I believe because IS03 won't be able to identify the .BAR contents.

Any wayout ?

[MB v8.0.0.4]

IS03 reads the content of your workspace. It does not go against the bar file but against the source.

Thanks for your reply.
Then it makes IS03 a tool for a developer rather a tester.
(At some level, it is logical to have this tool for developer that might assist / help in tweaking the source code from performance perspective during the design phase itself.)
BUT it would have been much better if that extends the limitation of having the source code only from workspace and would have given flexibility to testing team. - I don't say this... this is business expectation.

IS03 needs to be able to access the raw .msgflow/.subflow files in order to be able to load them into the UI. There is not enough information in the cmf (compiled message flow) files (within the bar files) to be able to lay the graphical components (nodes, connections etc) out correctly.

Does your test team not have access to the msg flow file? I also find that its developers who mostly look at performance testing (which is what IS03 is predominantly for...).

Is there some reason your testers don't have access to the source code for the resources they are testing?

Mine don't have that access.

It's a security thing.

Don't ask me more than that because I don't know; I don't own the security.

The testers job is to test according to the test plan/procedure. In my experience. very few would be able to even start to wok out where things are going wrong in Broker.
If the report a problem then the test has failed. We can sometimes enbable user trace and get thme to run that specific test again. More often than not, the issue is not woth the flow but with the environment.

Yea.. I can pragmatically understand that..

Nope, they don't have.
Cause the testing is based on some testcases and being run in the test env. which is closer and similar to the pre-prod. and prod. set up.
They are given .bar file(s) to get deployed. As we don't access to their env., similarly they don't bother about our development environment.

As Vitor mentioned, security is one of the major reasons.

And may be by that... keeping the responsibilities organized amongst the testers and developers by separating their access to their environments... no trespassing.

Yea.. I will try to..

It would be good if somewhere at this link, it would be captured that this tool is not for pre-prod./production (where testers/administrators have only access to bar file(s), not to the source code of business implementation. And it's a tool, the best suited for the developers.)

Just being curious... in WMB v8.0.0.4 (or previous but after v6) the feature to view the statistics of deployed resources of Broker over Command Line (in the tabuler format) was replaced with MB Explorer Stats Panels. Isn't it?

That feature (to view the stats over command line) would be useful incase someone wants to forward the stats results to a file, that's fed to a monitoring tool.

The monitoring tool is supposed to subscribe to the broker statistics and archive them into a DB in real time...
