Dear All,

I´m implementing 2 WAS servers and was hopping that the web gateway HA model will be based on the WAS HA, is that true ?

Hello
I found this on IBM board "Unfortunately neither the Gateway nor the JEE DBLogger are supported/will work on a WAS cluster at the moment.

Also, there are no currently documented methods for making your DBLogger highly available (either JEE or stand alone).

The DBLogger doesn't technically need to be always available, you have a 'buffer' time of the size of the DBLogger's subscription to the audit messages. By default I believe this is a massive number (99999999 or something like that). As long as the DBLogger is restarted before that 'fills up' it should continue to store the data away into the database."

We ourselves are using two instances of Web Gateway working through http balancing proxy and configured to use same webagent and same filespace area.

It is working, but because we have one agent - it is not 100% HA.
I am wondering myself - is there exist IBM approved HA solution for Web Gateway?

That exchange is from 2011, and it's an exchange on a blog not a piece of IBM documentation so while "IBM board" is strictly accurate, it's a little disengenuous.

Perhaps things have changed in the last 3 years....?

I agree - information is outdated. But I searched quite extensively and didn't find good source of WebGateway HA configuration solution.

Any tips?

Raise a PMR and ask IBM for the latest position.

Go a reply from IBM:

"The Web Gateway itself (item 1 in your diagram) cannot be active-active clustered in a WebSphere cluster. I think your best approach would be to attempt an active-passive arrangement. In this setup, the web gateway, web agent, and websphere application server would probably be configured as a single stack which could be failed over together to provide high-availability."
