We have been running 7.0.3 for several years now. We had had to deal with more than a few problems in this release but had to stick with it.
Now I have the opportunity to upgrade, don't need many bells and whistles but would like a version that is stable and as bug free as possible. Since I didn't get a chance to actually run any other versions I am reaching out to see what you all think might be the best release for us over the next 2 years when will upgrade again.
We use secure channels of course, need to refresh after changes, need log shipping to work, we use aliases, local, remote queues, etc. Just the basics, no pub/sub, no cluster.
Any and all comments and suggestions are appreciated. |

Every version and release comes with a few problems that we deal with. It is the nature of software.

All of the currently supported versions of WMQ include pub/sub and cluster; but if you don't use these, you will have no problems with them.

If you really value stability over new features then probably the latest fixpack for 7.0.1, that is FP 11 would be best.
But for a longer in-support life, the next version would be better.

Version 7.x.x.x may have 100 bugs.
Version 7.y.y.y is newer and has 150 different bugs.
It can be said that 7.x.x.x is more 'stable'.
The only bug that applies in your particular set up is one of the 100 present in 7.x.x.x. Do you really care that 7.x.x.x has fewer bugs and is more 'stable' now?
Every version of software has bugs. Every version. When FixPack 99 comes out, guess what, it will introduce new bugs that weren't present in FixPack 98.
Upgrade to 7.5.0.3, the latest version. I stay away from the n.n.n.0 and n.n.n.1 releases. By the time the 3rd or 4th fix pack is out most of the common bugs have been ferreted out. If you are going thru the trouble of upgrading, and it doesn't sound like you patch / upgrade often, go to the version that gives you the most years of life before the software goes out of support.

FP 7.0.1.12 is out now. Seems the list of bugs is never ending, but hopefully more and more obscure as time passes.
I noticed some very unpleasant looking JMS bugs in some FPs, I would not want 7.0.1.7, 7.0.1.8, or 7.0.1.10 for that reason.

Running Red Hat Linux 5.9 x86_64
We fired up 7.5.0.2 and when we connected channels amqrmppa
jumped to 90 % cpu
Applied fix pack 7.5.0.3 which is supposed to fix the problem but it still persists.
Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Open a PMR for your issue...
Go to 7.5.0.3. If using SSL on a non IBM JVM ask for the corresponding APAR(s)
