Hi,

We are going to migrate our WMB from v6.1 to 7.0 on AIX system. Actually we need to upgrate currently active WMB( no new installation), on the same path with same name.

Since it is our first migration for WMB, I wonder if anyone who has previous experice migration on AIX can offer any advise.

We are using WMQ v7.0.1.3 and DB2 v9.7.

I will really appreciate any help or introducing handy document

Thanks in advance

Don't migrate to WMB7, migrate to IIB9. And you may want to get help if you have never done a migration before. What is your plan for the migration? (In place, parallel, etc...)

Have fun

fjb_saper Thanks for your reply. We have WMQv7. I don't know whether IIBv9 for AIX would be free and would it need DB2, MQ or WAS upgrade or not?!

Since there are some applications and scripts using Broker(explicitly stated broker name) we have decided for In-place migration.

Thanks!

Keep in mind though that Broker V7 is out of support by end of September 2015.
Better bite the bullet now than to have to do a full migration again in less than a year.
IIB9 (since WMB 7 no DB required). Minimum WMQ 7.5.0.1
You will probably require an upgrade of the AIX OS.
Don't think you'd need any WAS upgrade... but shouldn't you already be at least at WAS 8?

Like I said you might want to hire some professional services to help you with this one.

If you are current on your support you should be able to grab IIB9 from passport advantage...

Currently we have a migration plan to WMBv7 on AIX because we do have WMBv7 on z/OS also.

I will be appreciated if you can intoduce handy in-place migration document for AIX.

Thanks

Nice but looking at the end of support date for WMB7 not good enough a reason!

As for migration plans, have you thought this through considering you may need an AIX OS level upgrade?

We have AIX v.6.1 and it would be sufficient for WMBv7 installation

Then all you need to know is in this handy document.

Keep notes as you'll be doing this again in a year.
