I'm trying to convert a char field defined as a CHAR(4) in the MRM to an integer. The esql I'm using is as follows:

DECLARE X AS Integer;

Set X = CAST(InputRoot.MRM.LINE_COUNT As INTEGER);

but whenever I run the the flow I get a message saying that it received a CHAR when it expected an INTEGER.

Any ideas, do I need to use the EVAL function for the CAST?

Thanks

Segs...

Hi,

just an idea: maybe it helps to
get rid of extra whitepspace by using TRIM

set X = CAST(TRIM(InputBody.field) AS INTEGER);
