I'm running MQSI 2.0.2 on sun Solaris with DB2 V7.1.
When I issued the mqsistop command, MQSI issued a BIP2804E. I had to kill the process in order to stop the broker. Opened a PMR with IBM, here is the response from Hursley:
"
There is a known problem related to the mqsistop command that
is documented in Item 30. of the readme.txt file which may be relevant.
When using DB2 as a broker database or an enterprise database accessed
in your message flows, a known intermittent problem exists whereby the
broker will not shutdown following an "mqsistop" command. The symptom is
that the command hangs and never returns.
To stop a broker which is in this state, issue the command "mqsistop -i".
This is a problem in DB2, and covered under APAR IY13468."

This APAR is fixed in DB2 V7 FixPak 5. DB2 FixPak 4 upgrades DB2 7.1 to 7.2 i.e. in order to apply FixPak 5 I will have to upgrade to DB2 V7.2. Apparently, MQSI 2.0.2 does not support DB2 V7.2 as yet.

Any idea ?

Hmmmm. Actually it's FixPak 3 that updates 7.1 to 7.2. Here's the line from the Release.txt (on WinNT):

Version 7.2/Version 7.1 FixPak 3

And here's a line from the DB2 Web page:

DB2 Version 7.1 FixPak 3 is functionally equivalent to DB2 Version 7.2

Now if you look on the MQSI Supported Software page for 2.0.2 it states the following:

DB2 V7.1 (GA Level or Fix Pack 3).

But doesn't mention 7.2. So is 7.1 + FP3 the same as an installed 7.2. In DB2's eyes - yes. In MQSI's eyes - no.

Confusion reigned.

Cheers,

nevertheless, i still cannot apply DB2V7.1 FP5 because MQSI V2.0.2 only works with Db2 V7.1 GA or FP3, right ?
I was told that WMQI also works with DB7 V7.1 GA only. So I should issue mqsistop -i to bring the broker down.
