Hello all
I am MQ novice. I have been given this task to Install MQ on Solaris. (I have no clue other than IBM documents for MQ)
The document says about creation of file system var/mqm,var/mqm/log and it says they should be on other drive for better
performance. Now if I install MQ Series on Drive d1 and create var/mqm, var/mqm/log on Drive d2. How woould MQSeries product
in opt/mqm relate var/mqm, var/mqm/log on Drive d2 ??? I am very confused.
How is the mounting done here ... I mean the commands issued.
I have very little experience in UNIX enironment. If some body would post ALL the
commands you have used - mounting COMMAND for above file systems.
I can do pkgadd thing..... setting other enivronment things .,

Thanks & Have a nice day...

Experience always counts....

The /var/mqm is the default place for MQSeries data. You shouldn't do anything to say MQSeries about. Just install and run MQS.

The suggested reason for putting /var/mqm and /var/mqm/log on their own file systems are for optimal performance. If MQ is the key component on the system, putting /var/mqm and /var/mqm/log on their own file systems and own disk backing that file system will allow for optimal I/O transfers for messages and logging of transactional messages. It is not necessary to do if the very highest possible throughput is not required.
