Hi Guys,

I am new to this Managed file transfer thing..i was just going through couple of redbooks and infocenter, if we really wanted to leverage the full capabilities, do we really need to have the MQ Server installed on the client(source machine) ?

How do we use MFT capabilities in a B2B solution, we can't ask the client to install the MQ FTE agent? is there other way of transferring the files using FTP/SFTP using the MQ explorer?

Apparently you're not getting it. MQFTE is supposed to replace your traditional ftp/sftp... I guess you could also try with connect direct (an other tool from IBM)

An FTE agent can act as an MQ Client.

Hi,

If you want an easy to setup (and free) MFT solution using MQ then have a look at MQ File Mover

MQ File Mover can be used in server or client mode.

Yes..we have successfully implemented the proof of concept with the agents installed on the client machines. Thanks much for the inputs.

We have one more requirement to transfer the files in a B2B scenario, how would we apply this solution?
We are planning to retrieve the files from the ERP cloud system, they are reluctant to install the agent.

Best fit, Cast Iron. The ERP would be providing a B2B gateway which meant you should be using a B2B gateway at your end also. Second option is Sterling Integrator or Connect:Direct connecting to remote FTP/SFTP server (the portion of the FTP would still be unreliable and not a MFT solution).

MQFTE can also do a FTP connectivity (with same issue as above).

You can't expect a cloud ERP to entertain customers to install their software into its own cloud infrastructure.

Regards.

If with ERP cloud system you mean any of the known adapter driven ERP's like SAP, Siebel, etc... then you should not be getting files but using the corresponding adapter in WMB...

Have fun
