I have an application that needs to attach a tracking identifier to messages passed between different endpoints. Since these messages may now go through the message broker I was considering using user exits to both extract the identifier and to attach new identifies for output messages.

My question is whether it is possible to modify the message in a user exit (for example in a propagated message callback or output message callback) by adding or modifying a property? For example for a MQ message this would mean adding a property to the MQRFH2/usr header.

The solution I'm looking for would have to work with existing deployed message flows so modifying the existing flows with new nodes would not be practical.
