I have installed the MQ 7.0.q on solaris 1o container ..The Installation failed due the read only file system /usr/bin....
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libimqb23as.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libimqc23as.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libimqs23as.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqccics.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqcxa.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqic.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqicb.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqiz.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqjx.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqjxs.so: Read-only file system
ln: cannot create /usr/lib/libmqm.so: Read-only file system
when i tried to uninstall the unsucessful installed s/w it is also failing
The following package is currently installed:
mqm WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris
(sparcv9) 7.0.1.0

Did you follow the manual's instructions and log in as root ?

| i have installed the MQ using Root in the soalris container where /usr is having Read-Only File System which is the reason of failure of MQ.. Now i want to Uninstallit and i am getting error while i am uninstalling.. Please suggest How i can remove the installed MQ so that i can install an fresh copy of MQ s/w |

You are probably going to have to raise a PMR on this.
I've no idea how you managed to install it "successfully" in the first place with a read-only /usr partition.
the problem looks to be that the uninstall scripts are attempting to read files from the /usr partition, which of course don't exist.

As i was said that the container that i am going to install was Whole root Zone i carried out the Installation in the view the root which i am using having the write access to the /usr. But after failure messages when i contacted the Solaris admin he confirmed that the container is the spase root...leaving it aside now i want to uninstall the MQM from the container
Problem 3: Attempts to uninstall from non-global zone fail to complete, as access is denied when it tries to remove files from /usr. The non-global zone installation remains in a 'partially installed' state.
Workaround: Retry uninstall to remove entry from package list. Files in /usr will remain untouched.
Can u explain a bit on the work around that was provided for this problem...How to remove MQ with out touching /usr file system.... |

Sorry, I do not know.
Solaris containers / zones are a bit of a mystery to me.
These error messages you posted look like you may need intervention from your Solaris sys admins:

They're a mystery to everyone. 
You'll certainly need to get your admin on board for this. There is some kind of magic which can be applied in this kind of situation which should help you. It helped me when the admin confused whole root & sparse root on me as well... 
Don't ask for more details - he didn't say & I didn't ask. I was just glad to finally get WMQ installed where it should have been and working where it needed to be after 3 days of painful effort.

You've been badly treated by your Solaris admin!
If the sparse container is dedicated to MQ, I would ask that it be removed and restored from image. (I hope your Solaris admin imaged the darn thing.) Then watch your admin's face go sad when you tell him you must do a global zone installation before you can do a sparse zone installation.
If the Solaris admins really want you to do a whole root zone installation, they have to start over with a new zone anyway.
Now if neither of these is true - in other words, you have no choice but to try to salvage the current sparse zone - I would open a PMR....
