I have a situation where MQSeries is entering a quiescent state during an MQseries Workflow Admin server shutdown. In my discussions with IBM regarding this problem I have been told:

"An analysis of the trace information shows that the admin server cannot connect to the queue manager, because it is quiescing (reason code 2161). Consequently the admin servers works as
designed, the next step should now be to find out who quiesced or stopped the queue manager; MQSeries Workflow certainly doesn't do this."

Now, I figure that MQSeries must keep some kind of trace that I can use to help determine where the quiesce is coming from... BUT, I don't know anything about MQSeries trace.

Can anyone help with this?

(Actually I'm going thru the doc now, but hoping that I might get a quick response to this query)

THANKS

You should use strmqtrc to start the trace and endmqtrc to finish it. You should find man pages for each of these on a unix system. There is also a command to format a trace file (IBM always asks you to do this) but I can't remember the name of it offhand... Running the trace itself is very straightforward - you basically provide a path to write the trace files to, and set a few switches for the various subsystems you want to trace...
