It belongs to the queue manager hosting the queue.

The reason code explaining why the message ended up in the DLQ is embedded in the Dead Letter Header with the original message. Included is the name of the destination queue and destination qmgr. Reason codes are many and varied.

Some common examples:
the destination queue was full or put(inhibited)
the destination queue doesn't exist on this qmgr
the message was destined for some other qmgr, but arrived here in error

In a properly configured cluster, you'd hope that the message had arrived at the queue manager it was destined for, or would be sitting in the S.C.T.Q waiting to arrive. Possibly, I accept, waiting for a while.

Vitor is exactly correct, as usual. I read the post with the thought of the message being destined for a non-clustered queue hosted on a cluster qmgr.

How odd is that? We read the same post differently.

in which instance your post would have been exactly on the money.

Depending on caffine levels I can read the same post differently. Whilst only reading it once.
