Hi MQ collegue,
MQ channel is protocol independent. Why is it impossible to configure a cluster containing SNA & IP queue managers?

I am not sure that I understand your question. I would have said that an MQSeries channel IS transport dependent. You specify the transport with the TRPTYPE parameter at channel definition time.

There is also a small comment at the front of the clusters manual that may help:

The qmgrs can be connected using any of the comm protocols that are available on your platform. ... Connections on more than one protocol may exist within the cluster. Of course, if you try to make a connection to a queue manager using a protocol that it does not support the channel will not become active.

Hi,

We want to cluster MQM's on AIX and MQM's on os/390 and IBM said: You must first implement TCP/IP on os/390!
It surprised me!
