Writing a scalable app that does this work is free too and easier to maintain than an exit... Not all skill sets are always available when you need a change to the exit like yesterday!

Let me throw a couple final questions into the mix ...

- First of all, what if a few million incoming messages per day need to be looked at before being processed, does the overhead of any routing/re-routing not be a serious consideration?
- Second, that DataPower box talked about used to be around $50K-75K, how much is it these days? If one does not have Broker, does it not cost money? The Exits are there, free.

A few million messages per day (24 hr day??) = ~35 msgs/sec average. DP designed for high throughput with parsing can handle multiples of this no problem. Price is still in range you mention. As mentioned by others a scalable app is 'free' as well. Many aspects to be considered that are relative to site skills and future needs and worries for the label 'FREE' to apply.

Even performance attribute favors toward "Application" , there are so many ways to improve performance of an APP - threading , parallel , batch processing etc. With exit , its limited boundary to play/tune is very restrictive - mainly because exit is going to run with in IBM "space".

Hello all;

logging in via an internet cafe from an exotic place somehere in this wide and wonderful world of ours, I wanted to drop a short note announcing zpat as our August Challenge winner. The main reason for his answer's selection is that zpat's was a correct answer and also the first one out of the box. There were of course other correct answers that are hereby notd.

I return around September 20th and hopefully there is still time left to come up with a short cycled September Challenge around that time.

Thanks.

Just putting in my 2c:

- Set the MsgDeliverySequence attribute of physical single mq6.x queue on the back end server to to FIFO with priority sequence (MQMDS_PRIORITY)

- Create one alias queue for each customer type and set defpriority accordingly, each alias queue points to physical queue on back end server

- Reconfigure sales office, agent, internet, mobile phone apps to put to the appropriate queues
