The webgui guide says you can use ICAP to scan message attachments for viruses.

Can DP scan files coming in via ftp?

yes - the ICAP really is a in-flight processing action... i.e. you'll have your MPG read the FTP file (or act as an FTP client) then in your processing policy have an anti-virus action to your ICAP server...
