Since the move to Cressida, I have noticed that your post count increments whenever you make any post, even for topics that you have already posted on. Before, the post count only incremented when you posted to a new or existing topic for the first time. Was this a conscious decision or an oops?

No, I'm saying that I hope my post count is not based on the number of THREADS I've contributed to.

it's not in the set up and admin panels, must be a counter coming from within the php code somewhere. I'll have a look at it this weekend and see.

Let's people graduate to higher rankings quicker !

so, I guess that's in the oops category.

Is it also time to have a re-look at counts and come up with new Rankings

This is not a change, Mehrdad. It's always been based on the actual number of messages written, afaik I know.

I think you're wrong, Poobah! I noticed this early on on the old site and now it's different. Brandon, what say you?

Hi all,

Yes, every post adds to your total posts, always been that way.

I think some of the other techy sites let the original poster give points to the members who answered their doubts perfectly(helped them get a solution), or even gave partial answers...say something out of 5...

Ofcourse the great thing would be that people would not post unnecessarily just to increase their post count...plus in time people would realize whose suggestions are really worth trying.

But it would definitely be tough to make this concept work, as people hardly ever even come back to mark their posts solved

Regards.

It may have changed a long time ago, and you just noticed it.

I don't remember a time when it wasn't based the actual post count. That may just mean my memory is failing me on this particular item.

You could see if this is an item in the change history of phpBB2... or an "enhancement" of phpBB2 instead of phpBB.

I think that's more likely. I can't remember when it was different myself...

I think you were distracted by the fact that you just turned into a Grand Master... (which appears at 500)
