All,

Starting in 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) will begin each year at 2 A.M. on the second Sunday in March (three weeks earlier than usual) and will end at 2 A.M. on the first Sunday in November (one week later than usual).

Hence, you need to patch the OS, WMQ and possibly Java JDK or JRE, otherwise for 3 weeks in the Spring and 1 week in the Fall, your message's PutTimeStamp will be off by 1-hour.

None of the 5 Capitalware products require any patches or updates to be compliant with the new DST changes. But the products do rely on the OS and WMQ for their timestamps or message's PutTimeStamp. Therefore, OS and/or WMQ and/or JRE/JDK patches are required to be done.

NOTE: Java releases since version 1.3 use table-based solution for DST similar to Unix. This table is integrated into the JRE and is separate from the underlying operating system's time zone database, so the JRE must also be updated when DST rules change. Patching the underlying operating system alone IS NOT enough.

For Operating System (OS) requirements please contact your particular OS vendor.

IBM has published information on DST and WebSphere MQ at the following Link:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&context=SSFKSJ&dc=D600&uid=swg21246616&loc=en_US&cs=UTF-8&lang=en

Sun Microsystems has posted information on DST and Java JRE and JDK at the following link:
http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Intl/USDST/

Summary of DST compliant JRE/JDK from Sun:
- J2SE 5.0 Update 6 or higher
- J2SE 1.4.2 Update 11 or higher
- J2SE 1.3.1 Update 18 or higher

How to tell if MQ Visual Edit or MQ Visual Browse is using a compliant JRE/JDK?
- Start either MQ Visual Edit or MQ Visual Browse
- Click Help -> About
- Near the bottom of the popup window you will see 'JVM version'. Please make sure you have a compliant version.

How to tell if MQ Batch Toolkit is using a compliant JRE/JDK?
- Change directory to MQ Batch Toolkit's log directory
- Open the log file (i.e. MQBT.log)
- Look for 'JVM version'. Please make sure you have a compliant version.

If you are using a version of MQ Visual Edit, MQ Visual Browse or MQ Batch Toolkit that has an embedded JRE that is not compliant with the about list then let us know and we will provide you with a compliant release (free of charge).

Regards,
