I'm not sure what you mean by your question. Most people using MQSeries use the TCP/IP protocol to communicate. Even if your clients and the MQSeries server aren't on the same network, if you know the IP address of the server, the client can connect to it across the internet because MQSeries clients connect via tcp/ip. As far as communicating via HTTP, this doesn't make sense - it is on a higher level than tcp/ip... And if you simply meaning port 80, yes, MQSeries could connect over the port normally used for HTTP, but you definitely wouldn't want to do this because any errant HTTP requests to the server would be interpreted as incoming messages by MQSeries (corrupted in its eyes) and lots of other contact admin stuff...

If you want to tunnel MQ over http, you can use the Internet Pass-Thru SupportPac (http://www-4.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/txppacs/ms81.html) This is used to get round firewalls, or to avoid having to punch holes in the firewall for MQ traffic.

There must be at least a telephone network in place between your communicating machines. This goes for all protocols, not just MQ.

Have you heard of the product "MQSeries Internet gateway"?

MQSeries Internet Gateway provides a bridge between the synchronous World Wide Web and asynchronous MQSeries applications. With the gateway, Web server software and MQSeries together provide an Internet-connected Web browser with access to MQSeries applications.

MQSeries Internet Gateway must be installed on the same machine as your Web server, but as it is a client application, it does not need to be on the same machine as your MQSeries queue manager.

You can install the internet gateway from MQSeries 5.x client or server CD.

If you really like to develop something of your own, use libWWW available from W3C. You can do whole lot more including, but NOT limited to Proxies, SSL, Cookies and XML (DTD).
