After creating the config manager and starting the config manager service I get an error in the event log saying cannot connect to Qmanager. but the queue manager is up and running fine. so due to this i get the error connection timed out in the control center. I have tried deleting the config manger,qmanager and tried creating the q manager and config manager again..but still i get the same error "Cannot connect to Q manager check to see if the q manager is running".

Any ideas how to solve this?

can you post your mqsicreateconfigmgr command here? What is the exact message logged into your Event viewer?

mqsicreateconfigmgr -i db2admin -a db2admin -q MQSIV2 -s MQSIV2 -n MQSICMDB -m MQSIMRDB

I have done the same in other computers, with no problems at all but this one particular computer is acting very stubborn.

Your mqsicreate command looks ok. I am sure you have created MQSIV2 on your local server.
Have you created a listner for your queue manager? Make sure you are typing the correct port number in Control Center and your listner is running.
What is the exact BIP error number you are getting?

If the error is in starting the config manager then that would obviously explain why the control center wouldn't work. Can you post the exact text (preferably in full) of the message logged in the event viewer? Make sure that the all the userids involved are also members of the mqm group.

yes you are right kolban since while creating itself the config mgr is not able to access the qmgr...it wont obviously connect in the contol center.

also why do i have to create channels for the q-mgr? i didnt do anthing for the other comps i installed in the office. all i did was checked the create a server connection channel.

I will go to the office and post the exact message i got in the event log.

this is what i get after i create the configmgr and start the service

=>( Configuration Manager ) The MQSeries queue manager MQSIV2 is not currently available.

When connecting to the MQSeries queue manager during Configuration Manager startup, queue manager MQSIV2 is not up and running. This is expected to be a transient situation and the Configuration Manager will restart after a short interval.

Start the MQSeries queue manager and its associated listener. For more information on this error see the MQSeries Application Programming Reference manual, codes 2059, 2161, and 2162.


=>( Configuration Manager ) The Configuration Manager is not available for use.

A problem has been encountered while trying to start the Configuration Manager. However the problem is expected to be transient and the Configuration Manager will automatically attempt to restart after a short delay.

Look at previous error messages for the Configuration Manager in the event log. Determine and correct the cause of the problem if necessary. If the problem persists contact your IBM support center.

Are you creating the queue manager yourself or is it created by mqsicreateconfigmgr command? Try to create the queue manager by yourself (using MQSeries Explorer or crtmqm command) and see if it is getting created properly. What version of MQSI/WMQI are you using? Do you have latest CSD applied?

Have you assigned your user-id 'db2admin' to mqm, mqbrkrs and Administratior group? Check your MQSeries error log file in <mqseries_home>/errors directory for any MQSeries errors.

yes my db2admin gp is a member of all the gps. I am using mqseries v5.2.1 and wmqi 2.1. I have nt applied any csd. could you please tell me where can i get these??

there are no errors in the log. Also i cant apply the csd cause i need to get permission to access net in my company. I know it sounds silly but thats how it is. I think i am going to ask the admin to format the comp
