thanks, the 'IU' advice helped.

The code:
SET OutputRoot...date =
CAST(OutputRoot...date AS GMTTIMESTAMP FORMAT 'IU') + LOCAL_TIMEZONE;

does what it should, finally pretty simple.

We are running MQ 5.1 CSD06 on NT4.0 SP5.
The NT event log doesn't say anything at the time the error occurs.
Executing runmqchi from the cmd line says:
